7th November, 9.30 – 4.00pm at Compton Dundon Village Hall
Re-imagining the Levels will host an informative, interactive and ambitious day looking at how we can take practical community led steps to increase Somerset’s tree cover for soils, nature, flood mitigation and carbon capture.
The day will focus on three areas of information and discussion:
• The importance of Trees
• Community Action and Education
• Somerset Policy on Trees
Come prepared to learn, take part and be inspired!
Reimagining The Levels was formed by a group of people who all live on the
Somerset Levels and care passionately about its future. The devastating effects of the floods in 2013/14 to individuals, communities, the economy and the environment demonstrated the pressing need for a more joined-up approach that looks at the causes and solutions to flooding across the entire catchment.
The evolution of this way of working collaboratively and the policies and strategy connected to it are excellent and effective. They are also very interesting as a model for other areas to be working with. We cannot recommend this day highly enough!
We heard from the project at the Tree Conference in Frome from both Andy Egan‘s talk and also during the Networking Time.
