This first Tree Conference was a response to the call we felt in the Somerset landscape to support trees and what trees are showing us about community and land care.
The people living around Glastonbury are fortunate to be in a community that accepts all sorts of world views and is very willing to embrace the direct relationship with Nature. This created fertile soil to start exploring the astonishing science coming out about forest ecosystems in the ten years leading up to 2017.
The conference celebrated and lifted up projects that tap into real understanding of what is needed for future generations.
“To describe the event as a conference really doesn’t do it justice; it was more like a great day out for someone who is really interested in trees but wants to look at them from a slightly different angle. A fantastic range of speakers, loads of interesting, friendly people to talk to and all in all a really inspiring day. I shall be back in 2018!“
John Tucker, Director of Woodland Creation for the Woodland Trust
