The Somerset Rural Life Museum reopened on Saturday 3rd June following a major 2.4 million redevelopment. The museum tells the story of Somerset’s rich and rural social history using agricultural, social history and fine art collections from the county of Somerset. The galleries explore working life in rural communities and tell the story of food and farming. The museum is housed in a former dairy farm which includes the 14thcentury Abbey Barn and a cider apple orchard. The museum provides learning opportunities including adult workshops, family activities and school sessions for Key Stages 1 and 2.The Museum is managed by The South West Heritage Trust which is an independent charity that protects and celebrates Somerset and Dorset’s rich heritage.
