If you decide to receive trees via The Woodland Trusts tree provision schemes or because you are supporting local tree planting one of the main things you then need to do is ensure that the young trees are cared for.
In Glastonbury we are working with the Goddess Temple and other local groups to create Tree Guardian Maps so that those that care about the tree coverage locally can agree to walk particular paths several times a year to check on the health of trees and feed that back to the council.
The council’s do not have the people power to afford to offer this service but schemes like this popping up all over the UK mean planting strategies have opportunities of real long term success.
